About Our School

School Council and Buddies
Children at Robin Hood Juniors are encouraged to take responsibility within the school. Our Playground Buddies are trained to support younger children at playtimes. The School Council, chosen by peers liases with the community to discuss issues important to all.

Progress
The school has a new innovative approach to learning, incorporating thinking skills alongside the National Curriculum.

Creativity
At Robin Hood we break down barriers between subjects to enhance creativity in all aspects of learning.

Ecological Awareness
We are proud to be recognised as a 'centre of excellence' for ecological and environmental work. Our commitment to this reflects our expectations that children will show consideration for each other and their surroundings.
Children can engage in a wide variety of in-class and extra-curricula activities including recycling, leaf collecting, composting, allotment management and energy consumption.

Extra-Curricula Activities
Drawing on the expertise of both staff within the school and external specialists we are able to provide our children with a variety of activities to enjoy. Depending on the interests of your child he or she could take part in a range of physical, musical, creative or practical experiences to complement the curriculum.

Key objectives:

  • We will have high expectations, to enable children to reach the highest standards possible. We will develop children's knowledge, experience, creativity, their capacity for enjoyment and awareness of moral and social values.
  • Every child will be regarded, valued and developed as an individual, with needs and aspirations, enabling each one to make a positive contribution to the life of the school.
  • We will provide a purposeful, varied and challenging learning environment in which everyone's achievements will be celebrated and displayed.
  • Parents, pupils and staff maintain a positive atmosphere in which the children will accept responsibility for their behaviour and their work.
  • Children will be encouraged to have an understanding of, empathy with and respect for all cultures and societies.
