World Book Day costumes:

World Book Day Fun:

Our theme for this world book day was Alice in Wonderland as we've been studying this book in class. Throughout the day we had lots of fun including: book dating with other children, a book trail around school, a wonderful assembly on books and re-writing our own Alice themed poems. The children - and teachers - made lots of effort with their costumes and it was lovely to see the children enthusiastic about their reading.

Science fun:

Our topic this term is Potions, we started our topic off with investigating the viscosity of different liquids. We had to measure out different liquids such as vinegar and washing up liquid then we had to pour them through a funnel and time how long it took. We predicted what would happen and recorded our results.

Fronted adverbial tennis:

In Year 4 we have been trying hard to use fronted adverbials in our writing, we spent the first 10 minutes of our literacy lesson on Tuesday playing 'Fronted Adverbial Tennis' this is where one person starts with a fronted adverbial e.g. suddenly and the other person has to say one back, trying to up-level their partners word. The children did brilliantly, we created a list of phrases we could use in our writing and all the children tried their best to use them .

Favourite books:

Children in Ash class have been bringing in their favourite picture books to share with the class. It has been a success in getting the children to share books and discuss their thoughts and opinions too! The children have been encouraging each other to read aloud to the class and it has made an improvement to how we're using our voices when speaking in front of an audience. Keep it up!
