Welcome to Robin Hood Junior School. It is always a pleasure to welcome inquiries from parents and carers and I hope that you find this website useful and informative.
Our vision for Robin Hood Junior School is to promote a love of learning within a safe and happy school in which every person matters. We aim to provide a creative and challenging curriculum in order to encourage children’s confidence and self esteem. We work in partnership with governors, parents and our local community and celebrate success in all we do.
We are a strong team at Robin Hood Juniors and the children and I are very proud of the staff team, who all work incredibly hard to provide the best learning opportunities. My favourite parts of the day are welcoming our families as they arrive in the morning and celebration assemblies.
The school endeavours to meet the needs of individual pupils through the delivery of broad, balanced, engaging and differentiated learning opportunities designed to provide the appropriate level of challenge. These opportunities are informed by ongoing assessment information, which identifies progress and achievement, highlights potential and generates curricular targets.
Robin Hood Juniors is eager to promote a broad and balanced curriculum for the children in our care. To reinforce this, we have a number and variety of extra curricular clubs on offer to the children. Our clubs include Cookery, Gardening, Football, Cricket, Art, Dancing, Drama, Gymnastics and French. All children in year 4 learn a brass instrument and we have a guitar teacher who comes in to school once a week to work with individuals and small groups.
We also run a weekly Homework Club. This is run by a number of teachers, including myself and gives children the opportunity to successfully complete homework when it is set. This is a valuable help to many parents who find the methods and calculations used very different to the way in which they were taught.
We work very closely with our supportive parents and would welcome more volunteers to support learning in class, listen to children read and make crucial resources to further enhance our provision.
We have excellent links with Robin Hood Infant School and work hard to sustain continuity between the two schools. Representatives from the two schools meet termly and transition for our prospective year three children is planned carefully. A number of visits are made before they join us in order to make the move as smooth as possible.
At Robin Hood Juniors we are very proud of our external environment. Our children love their quiet gardens and the gardening club works hard to keep the gardens looking nice.
We hope that this website contains information that is useful to you, but do feel free to contact us with any questions you may have or for a copy of our School Prospectus.
I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to our school.
