Statement about Ofsted inspection: Cllr Tony Brett Young

Cllr Tony Brett Young, Executive Member for Young People:

"We have serious concerns about this pilot inspection. We believe the judgement is wrong and will be working with the school to appeal against it.

"In fact, a comprehensive action plan was put in place prior to the inspection and last year there was a 10% improvement in the numbers of pupils making appropriate progress. A new head teacher was appointed in April and is driving these improvements. This is a school which has some issues to address but is moving in the right direction. However, we will act on the recommendations of this report and continue to give the school the extra support it needs to carry on delivering improvements.

"We do welcome aspects of the inspectors' report which praised pupils' personal development and behaviour, and commended the school on its strong sense of community."
