This week, Palm class have been channeling their inner 13th Century peasant to write a period-appropriate journal entry as the Black Death swept across Europe. The children have been using their personification skills to make the disease seem more ominous, as well using all of their senses to add detail to their recounts.
This week has been dedicated to developing the children's confidence with solving single- and multi-step word problems. They have been working in groups, and using mathematical language and reasoning to help them tackle these challenges. Our final lesson on Friday allowed the children to apply their understanding to a variety of challenges, including proving True/False statments, working with money, and questions where they needed to consider how to adapt their remainders.
The children also had their first taste of Spanish with our new Spanish teacher and I'm sure have been sharing what they've learnt with you at home! They will continue to have one lesson a week to develop their language skills.
This term, We Are Artists!
The children have been investigation tessellating (repeating) patterns using regular polygons. We explored how these patterns can be used to create computer-generated landscapes and character models for animated films and games.
