We were delighted to have Jenny Langley come and speak to our parents and staff on Monday 6th February in the afternoon to discuss the ways in which we can support our children's mental health. Jenny works for the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust whose aim is to equip young people and their families to look after their mental health. Her session was insightful, thought-provoking and highlighted the many reasons why promoting emotional health and well-being is so important in primary schools. She helped us all to understand the Emotional Continuum and what good mental health looks like. Throughout the session, Jenny demonstrated the positive language that can be used to support the children and highlighted many different ways in which we can continue to support our children's mental health.
Jenny will continue to work with the school to help develop a whole-school approach to emotional well-being. We have already ordered some child-friendly books for the teachers to use with the children in order to help develop their emotional vocabulary. We look forward to Jenny's next visit in June where she will be working with the children and staff on resilience and body image.
If you were not able to attend the session, her powerpoint and notes can be found under the 'Parent/Coffee Mornings & Workshops' tab on our website.
