Virginia in Y4 Pine class was announced the winner of The Metropolitan Police’s Christmas Tree Primary School Poster Competition for the London Borough of Sutton.
Children in Primary Schools across Sutton and other London Boroughs took part in this competition which was to design a poster promoting the Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s Christmas Tree Project.
This project encourages the public to donate a Christmas gift and these are then given to local children in need. Virginia said “On the 7th November, I was lucky enough to go to New Scotland Yard and watch the Christmas lights be switched on. My poster design consisted of a policeman holding lots of presents surrounded by Big Ben and the London Eye with Santa in the distance on the moon! The overall winner, Annabelle, was chosen to turn on the lights which my sister had done the previous year, which was a real surprise to us all. During the celebration we all got to meet the Commissioner and we watched a local choir perform. I also got my finger print taken which was really exciting. The day was great fun and I am so happy that I was chosen!” We are delighted that one of our pupils was selected as the overall winner in our Borough and are proud of all of our children that took part.
