SCHOOL CLOSURE - FROM 5TH JANUARY
Happy New Year - almost! I had hoped I would not need to write to you during the holidays and we would see the children back next Tuesday but as you will have heard on the news, schools in Sutton have been closed to most pupils until at least the 18th January 2021. This is due to the high levels of virus and transmission in the local area and is very much a last resort.
Children at home:
- Teaching staff and the leadership team are meeting on Monday to discuss remote learning for the majority of children and your child’s year group will be in touch as soon as they are able to. Learning will be provided using Google Classroom as your child is familiar with this.
- If your child does not have access to a suitable device during the school day, please complete this loan request as soon as possible https://forms.gle/iKFtxMJoywwv67fP6 and someone from the Office will contact you early next week. You will need to arrange to collect it and sign a loan agreement / pay a security deposit. A phone is not suitable.
The aim of closure is obviously to reduce transmission in the community and the safest place for your child is at home within their own household.
This is obviously all very disappointing however I know that you, your children and our staff will do everything possible to reduce the impact and maintain the resilience and positive attitudes that make RHJ such a great place. The most important thing is that everyone stays safe and well – the rest can be fixed!
