All the eco-councillors recently had an Eco Workshop all about recycling. We met an artist called Judith Lawton and a sponsor called Veolia. They were very kind and friendly. First the Year 3 and 4 Eco-Councillors went into Willow class and were asked questions about the three R’s (Reuse, Recyle and Reduce) by a lady from the Recycling Centre. While we asked, Miss Briggs was putting holes into the bottles that the classes from Year 3 and 4 brought in. After that, Judith Lawton told us how to make chandeliers made out of bottles that are going to be hung up at the light festival and later in Sutton. When she had finished speaking, we had started cutting bottles into curly strips for only parts of the chandeliers. It was extremely fun although it was tiring for our hands. We managed to make two chandeliers with between 35-50 strips. Nothing was wasted since every single part was needed except the cap. We all started with small bottles but later we cut out huge bottles. Some strips could still touch the floor even if they’re lifted by a tall adult. Everyone had enjoyed it. It was pretty hard to cut huge green bottles but we managed to cut those bottles. The chandeliers were also going to be hung up at Lumiere London from 18th-21st January. Finally, a photographer took a picture of Year 3 and 4 Eco-Councillors with two of them holding a chandelier. It took about 40-55 minutes to do all this. We started at 10.40 and ended at 11.30. Then we finally left and went back to class.
