Lavinia in Y6 Cedar class was announced the winner of The Metropolitan Police’s Christmas Tree Primary School Poster Competition. Lavinia was presented with her winner’s certificate for the Sutton area by Borough Commander Robyn Williams and her colleagues who visited our school earlier this week.
The runners up were Sitharthan in Y6 Cedar class and Matthew in Y5 Larch class. Lavinia's entry will now go forward to the London wide competition, the winner of which will get to turn on the Christmas lights at New Scotland Yard HQ.
The children took part in this competition which was to design a poster promoting the Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s Christmas Project. This project encourages the public to donate a Christmas gift and these are then given to local children in need.
Lavinia was delighted to have won and said: “I am very thankful for winning this competition. I am very proud of the other children who won in the other boroughs. I saw the pictures and I think they worked extremely hard because their art work was very beautiful. I am very happy that the children who don’t usually get a gift on Christmas will get the chance to get one this year. I am very excited to go with my family to New Scotland Yard. Thank you very much for this opportunity.”
We are very proud of all the children who took part in this competition. Well done to our winner and runners up.
