SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)

At Robin Hood Junior School we believe that all children are entitled to an education that enables them to make progress so that they can:

  • Achieve their best
  • Become confident individuals living fulfilling lives, and
  • Make a successful transition into adulthood, whether employment, further education or training.

We are an inclusive school and aim to meet the needs of all our children.    Some children however will need support which may be different, or additional to, the majority of pupils the same age, at some stage in their time at school.  We endeavour to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that children with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) are not disadvantaged compared with their peers.

We value the views and opinions of parents and pupils and seek to work in partnership with all those who are involved with securing the best outcomes for our pupils.   We therefore seek to provide opportunities for the views, wishes and feelings of the child and their parents to be taken into account, and for them to be involved with decision making regarding their child whenever possible.

The London Borough of Sutton has published a 'Local Offer' which sets out, in one place, information about provision available across education, health and social care for children and young people in Sutton who have special educational needs or are disabled: http://localoffer.sutton.gov.uk

As part of the Sutton Local Offer, Robin Hood Junior School has published its SEND Information Report.  Here you will find information on: assessment of children for SEN provision, how information is communicated to parents and carers, progress reviews and what is done if progress is inadequate, the curriculum, how needs are met, additional support available, support for exams, social and emotional support and local authority support services that are utilised.

Each year we review our SEND Information Report.  A Summary review can be found by opening the attachment at the bottom of the page.

Admissions procedures for pupils with SEND are the same as for other pupils. Please click on link for further details:
