SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)

At Robin Hood Junior School we believe that all children are entitled to an education that enables them to make progress so that they can:

  • Achieve their best
  • Become confident individuals living fulfilling lives, and
  • Make a successful transition into adulthood, whether employment, further education or training.

We are an inclusive school and aim to meet the needs of all our children.    Some children however will need support which may be different, or additional to, the majority of pupils the same age, at some stage in their time at school.  We endeavour to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that children with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) are not disadvantaged compared with their peers.

We value the views and opinions of parents and pupils and seek to work in partnership with all those who are involved with securing the best outcomes for our pupils.   We therefore seek to provide opportunities for the views, wishes and feelings of the child and their parents to be taken into account, and for them to be involved with decision making regarding their child whenever possible.

Admissions procedures for pupils with SEND are the same as for other pupils. Please click here for further details.

If, however, your child has a Statement of Educational Needs or an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP), you will need to contact the Sutton Local Authority SEN department on 02087706507

If you would like to discuss your child’s special educational needs or disability, please contact Mrs Parker:

Sutton SEND Charter

What is a SEND Charter?

Sutton Local Authority have written a SEND charter which include a high level set of values and attitudes agreed by stakeholders across the borough with how to approach SEND.

The intention is that this would be underpinned by various processes and provide a framework for multi-agency SEND work including schools, Cognus, parents and carers.
